Dr. Richard Shuster

Pianist Richard Shuster is a soloist, collaborative artist, lecturer, and teacher, and has been assistant professor. His piano performance degrees include the Bachelor of Music from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He holds the Master of Music and Doctorate in Musical Arts degrees from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he was a student of Rebecca Penneys and was the recipient of a graduate fellowship award in studio and class piano teaching.
Dr. Shuster was also the recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Grant for study at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary.
Throughout the United States and abroad, Dr. Shuster has presented solo and chamber music programs and lecture-recitals.
Dr. Shuster was also featured in a performance of Belá Bartók¡¦s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion at the Texas Music Teachers Association 2005 Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas. He has recently performed with the Camerata Winds woodwind quintet in Dallas and was the featured soloist in a performance of Gershwin¡¦s Rhapsody in Blue with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra at the Eisemann Center in Richardson on March 6, 2007.
Dr. Shuster is a dedicated pedagogue and teaches a diverse class of talented
piano students majoring in performance, piano pedagogy, liberal arts, music
therapy and music education. His fifteen years of professional teaching
experience began as a faculty member of the Young Pianists Program at Indiana
University under the mentorship of Dr. Karen Taylor.
