John Fisher, professor of music, is currently in his twenty-ninth year of service as a full-time music faculty member at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. His instructional specialties there include applied studio piano, the undergraduate music theory sequence and music of women composers. He served as Wesleyanˇ¦s music department chairman during the 10-year period.

Dr. Fisher has bachelor and master degrees in music from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Ph.D. in music theory/composition from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Dr.Fisher An accomplished chamber musician, Dr.Fisher is also a much sought-after contest and festival adjudicator in the United States.

Dr. Fisher has also organized and led university student and alumni tours to more than 25 countries. Recent and scheduled outings include undergraduate study abroad trips to Brazil (2014), Prague and Vienna (2015), Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia (2016) and East Germany and Poland (2017).

Dr. Fisher 2013-14 collaborations with South African soprano Suré Eloff on both the world and the London premieres of UK-based composer Gregory Roseˇ¦s song cycle Avebury Stone Circles, in which Fisher was referred to by London music critic Robert Matthew-Walker as Eloffˇ¦s ˇ§outstanding partnerˇ¨.

Dr. Fisher is also one half of the professional vocal-piano duo titled My Eveninˇ¦ Star!, which, together with Wesleyan adjunct professor Allison Whetsel Ward, features vocal and piano selections from the best of the 1890ˇ¦s and 1900ˇ¦s American cabaret music, effectively recreating the sights and sounds of turn-of-the-century Americana.
